    Rule runtime log doesn’t go back far enough

    Q: We had an issue with the system receiving the file Limagito moves, I want to check the Limagito logs but the rule runtime log doesn’t go back far enough. Are the runtime logs written out to a permanent log somewhere? Do we have to enable logging in anyway?

    A: The RunTime log was not created for this. It is just a ‘short’ visual log about what the File Mover is doing at the moment you use the Remote Tool.

    What you need is our ‘Logging to File’ option (History logging). Please check:

    Log Report Summary parameter added in Limagito File Mover

    In version v2022.3.6. we added a Log Report Summary parameter: %LRS

    Some screenshots will help you to understand how you can use this parameter to send you a summary email after the Rule has finished.

    Please select ‘Rule Events’ menu item.

    We are going to use the ‘On Success’ Event to trigger an email so enable ‘On Success’ and ‘Enable Mail’.

    We added the new Summary parameter %LRS into the body of the email message.

    Important, do not forget to enable ‘Trigger mail event after scan’ because the %LRS parameter is only available after scanning source files. You can find this option under the ‘Options’ tab of the ‘Rule Events’ setup.

    Log File keeps increasing although the maximum size is set

    Log File keeps increasing although the maximum size is set

    Dear users,

    We recently installed our file mover at a new customer. From the first moment on we had issues with our History Log option (= logging to file). The log file kept on growing although the maximum logsize and log count were set. We tried many (many) different settings, we even installed our file mover on a second system but the result was always the same. Sometimes the filesize even stayed at zero bytes (using the Windows File Explorer) but when we opened the file it contained log data.  We had never experienced this in all those years. After a lot of tests we found a workaround and changed our logging code. Now we count the bytes we write to the log file so we no longer depend on what the Windows Filesize API tells us. We changed this in version v2021.3.20.0.
